Congratulations on the interview!
That's how we did it back in the 60's. Oh wait, I wasn't alive in the 60's. Still, it's a hilarious prank to do on people.
Glad you think so! It's a public number so...he must be okay with people calling him.
Wow! Congrats on the interview! Is there anywhere where we might be able to hear it? ^_^
Also, about the Senator... any links for his remarks where I can read?
And funny comic :)
I'm in love with this strip.
*twinges* I really really wanna call him now!
If you give in to your evil impulse, please tell me what happens!!
as I told another LJer: "that is f-in awesome"
Nice one. I trust this is a case of art imitating life, yeah?
LOL! I love that toon!
Sorry I missed your interview. :o( I listen to Air America pretty regularly, but mostly at night. I don't know that I've ever heard anything but ads for Ring of Fire.
"A real-life description to me would be a rape victim, brutally raped, savaged. The girl was a virgin. She was religious. She planned on saving her virginity until she was married. She was brutalized and raped, sodomized as bad as you can possibly make it, and is impregnated."
Oh. So if a woman gets raped "just a little bit," say the rapist puts a gun to her head and fucks her without leaving any visible injuries, that'd be okay by him? Or if she's not religious, how bad can a rapist mess her up before it counts? And if she's not a virgin, does that mean she's fair game for any and all lurking sexual predators? There's no way in hell this guy could be married or have any daughters who still speak to him. How could any woman love this man?
Sorry, I missed the part where you said the interview hadn't aired yet.
Har! Hilarious. I will now drum up some biznizz for you in my journal. P.S. I'm pretty sure Bill Napoli would go for Ranch.
I just found this on someone else's blog. Unfortunately, I saw it AFTER lunch. I went with the "champagne pear" dressing... I hope it's ok. :/
Mind if I add you? Love the strip!!
Please do! Glad you like it!
I called him and left a message on the answering machine. He actually called me back and we had a discussion on abortion.
We didn't change eachother's minds, and he seems to be a nice guy. Basically, he and his wife have raised 7 foster children through out their lives. His wife couldn't have a baby, so they started taking them in. He said through his years of raising all of these unwanted children he started truly respecting life.
I don't know.. I asked him questions and brought up a lot of alternate reasonings. I feel that he shouldn't push his experiences upon others. Just because they couldn't have a child doesn't mean others should be forced to. He is working purely off his own experiences and I feel not looking at a bigger picture.
At the end of the conversation I brought up how many of my friends have gotten pregnant and either ended it with abortion or had the baby at a very young age. When you become a teenager you make many decisions that are just fucking stupid, and I feel babies should not be raising babies and that young women should have an option out of pregnancy. Sure, having a baby inside your body for 9 months out of your life might not seem like a big deal, but to any woman it is HUGE! Especially when you are so young and your social constructs are very important to who you are. No girl wants to be shamed or be treated horribly because she made a mistake. Not only that, but the psychological implications of being forced to carry would be ..a nightmare. So 9 months worth of time isn't a big deal, but forcibly carrying a child for that length of time...? And especially for a young women..?
I don't know. We started it well and ended it well. I wish I had my thoughts together before he called back, because I wasn't expecting it. He is working his politics based too much on his own experiences.
That fucking sucks. Let people make their own decisions, damnit.
By 'ending it well,' I mean civilly.
The conversation really has upset me. This entire governmental system has me freaked out. We have men in political positions who really, really think they are doing a good thing. Bill thinks that what he is doing is right because he is trying to protect a potential being that has no voice. I don't think he realizes that as the person with the brain and the uterus, we are that voice. He completely glances over the person that is a United States citizen, to the fetus. He really did state that it wouldn't be a big deal to be pregnant for 9 months and then give that baby away. What are we, sheep?! Let's bypass the fact that we have feelings and would totally be affected having a baby grow inside of us. I mean, it's not like any woman comes out of an abortional clinic smiling..
I keep thinking about Plato's Republic, and I completely understand why the common man (who is led with his appetite or spirit) should not be allowed to have any ruling position. I see it on both sides of the government, in every level on every stance. All of those men are working for their own political agenda.. and sure, we can speak up and say something, maybe sway their minds. But the bottom line is until we have a person that truly understands justice, our government will always be corruptable and biased.
I am thoroughly pissed.

Thanks so much!
Found you from linkage.
The figs probably don't need to be bagged. The only real worry is that the skin will be breached and ants will find it (and yes, an underripe fig is nasty).
One of the odd things about figs is they have a life cycle which is dependant on small (very small) wasps, and the ecology inside them is complex.
In all the fig trees I've had in my life (four :) ) I've never found ants to be a problem, or other bugs. (Their special wasps are a given, of course.) . In fact, the worst pests were our horses. We could never get figs from branches within their reach. :)
I love this! I posted it on my LJ with credit and a link back to your journal...hope that's okay.
Fucking brilliant comic!
just wanted to chime in.
I appreciate it! Glad you like the cartoon!
A friend found this in a community and leeann_marie
informed me it was by you.
Just wanted to let you know that you are awesome.
Thanks; you're very kind!
Wonderful strip. Thank you for bringing it into existence.
I'm immensely pleased to have discovered your LJ (via mactavish
), having once run across your site, fallen madly in love with the comic, and completely failed to bookmark it ...
Again, thank you. Well done.
That's so nice of you to say! Thank you.
I wish Abbie Hoffman was still around to see this strip- he would have loved it!
He had some great ideas! We need more people like him around today.
Thanks for writing!
Just another in the chorus of "You rawk," and "I'm linking to this in my LJ." Well that, and THANK YOU. :)
Saw the comic posted on a friend's lj. Had to post it on mine (saved and stored on my own space so as to save bandwidth of course). Thanks to the windows magnifier I was able to include the URL to your site (it's a little hard to see on the comic itself). Great comic. Kudos. =)
I saw this strip in sex_and_race
and I was laughing so hard.
You friended me when I was operaheels
, but I haven't been using that journal in a long time. This is me now -- smallstages
. Hi again :)
Oh hello! Glad to know where you ended up!
Thanks for writing!
This cartoon made me laugh and snicker!! My roommate just left him a lengthy message asking him to get back to her about her menstrual flow. "If you could email me, email@example.com, that would be greeeaaat."
That is SO FUNNY!!! You've made me laugh a lot too! I can just imagine how that must have sounded.
Congrats on the interview, that is exciting!
yeah, i am scared to eat figs because of the bug eggs that get in them!
Thank you Leigh! As I've learned today, some bugs are necessary to the figs' development! Who would have thought...???
